MID-WINTER BREAK
Just a reminder to our families that Mid-Winter break is here! There will be no school on Friday or Monday. We will see everyone back on Tuesday the 24th!
BLOOD DRIVE
The Interact club is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, February 26 from 8:00am to 12:30pm. Everyone who attempts to donate will receive a pair of black/white flannel pants while supplies last. If you would like to donate please sign up online here!

STUDENT SERVICES
SCHEDULE COURSE REQUESTS DEADLINE
Attention 9th, 10th and 11th graders . . . The deadline to submit your Course Requests in PowerSchool is Monday, March 2. Also, students submitting an Interest Form for Honors, AP, Culinary, Trades Block, Ed Academy, Yearbook, Advanced Ag, or TVP must turn in their Interest Forms to the Counseling Department no later than Monday, March 2.
If your requests are not submitted by the due date - your next year's schedule will be built from your choices made during your scheduling lesson and/or whatever course availability remains after primary scheduling. (3/2)
COURSE REQUEST Q & A
Have a few questions about your course selection for next year? Bring your laptop to lunch with you on Tuesday, 2/24 or Wednesday, 2/25. Ms. Tolles and Ms. Peg will be in both lunch periods and available to answer your questions. Look for the scheduling cart - blinking lights and all. Remember you only have until Monday, March 2, to submit your final requests and any Interest Forms. (2/25)
SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS
- KCC Foundation Scholarship application deadline is March 2nd! Specific criteria and application guidelines for each scholarship program are available on the KCC scholarship website. (3/2)
- The Union Bank Scholarship application is open to graduating seniors pursuing college or trade school education in fields, such as education and healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, culinary arts, skilled trades, construction, architecture, technology and infrastructure, agriculture, environmental sciences, and finance. Applications are available at ubmich.com/scholarship and must be submitted via email to unionbank@ubmich.com no later than Friday, April 10. (3/2)

-Applications for the Highpoint Community Bank Educational Scholarship are open to high school seniors going into a post-secondary education program in finance or a business-related field. - The GRBS Perseverance Scholarship is accepting applications for seniors who have overcome personal challenges and/or hardships. Click here for the application and more information. The deadline is March 9th. (3/2)
- The Lakewood Choral Society Scholarship is open to a graduating senior who will be majoring in voice performance or music education at a 4-year accredited college. The application can be accessed online at www.lacsmusic.org or from your high school choir director. The deadline is Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. (3/2)
QUIZ BOWL
Last night the Quiz Bowl team won 2 out of their 3 matches. They lost to Okemos in the first match of the night but then came back and won against both Waverly and Holt. Winning questions included topics such as cell membranes, the show Ghosts, and Stranger Things actor Joe Keery. (2/19)
CLUBS
SKI CLUB
The next Ski and Snowboard Club trip to Bittersweet will be this Friday, February 20th, from 9:30-5:00. This is our day trip. We will depart and return to the Middle School. If you reserved a spot for the trip that was cancelled on February 6th, that ticket will be good for this trip. You must turn in your $5 for the bus by Wednesday, February 18th. If you haven't signed up and would like to go, or have questions, please contact Mrs. Laubaugh at kristen.laubaugh@hassk12.org. (2/20)

RESULTS from coaches
Wrestling
Wednesday night the wrestling team traveled to Portage Northern to compete in the regional finals. In the first dual of the night the Saxons took down Portage Northern 48-32. Hastings advanced to the Regional Finals where they were beaten by a tough Brighton team. Winning matches for the Saxons were Josh Roberts, Brayden Ward, Hunter Sutfin, Reyd Zoerman, Isaac Lilley, Liam Renner, Jace Acker, and Austin Friddle. Hastings finished the season with a 37-7 record. This sets the school record for most dual wins in a season.
A big Congratulations to Hunter Sutfin who received his 100th win Wednesday night. Hunter picked up his 100th win in the dual against Brighton. Hunter is the first Saxon ever to reach this milestone as a sophomore!
Boys Varsity Basketball
Tomorrow Night. Friday night. 7:00 PM. Coldwater comes to our house.
It’s Senior Night for the Hastings Boys Varsity Basketball team.
Come pack the gym and send off Cayden Pettengill, Dan Jensen, and Balian Marlette in their final game on our home floor.
Conference game with Playoff energy.
Districts start Monday vs. Lakewood in Lansing.
Pull out the couch and be loud. Go Saxons!
