EDUCATION ACADEMY

Prerequisites: Students must submit a completed Interest Form, available in the Counseling Department.

B (BLOCK) (GHC1305522) | Grades: 11-12 | Hours: 2-3 per semester | Credits: 1-1 ½
Prerequisites: Education Academy A, Students must submit a completed Interest Form, available in the Counseling Department.

Education Academy provides students with an opportunity to prepare for a variety of careers including but not limited to Pre-K through High School teachers, paraprofessionals, childcare workers, youth activity leaders, and many more. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside master teachers and other community members. In this class, students will learn about child development, classroom management, designing lessons and activities, safety and health issues, educational psychology, and social foundations. Students will take part in various work-based learning opportunities and when ready, will be assigned to a master teacher and/or community member as an instructional assistant or teacher assistant. Students in this program will be on site, as well as have various teaching assignments off campus. This program requires that the student can provide their own transport, has the proper maturity level, and completes all requirements for the student’s selected area. This course may be taken for up to 2 years.

EDUCATION ACADEMY ADVANCED

Prerequisites: Education Academy A&B, Students must submit a completed Interest Form, available in the Counseling Department.

B (BLOCK) (GHC1305521) | Grades: 12 | Hours: 2-3 per semester | Credits: 1-1 ½
Prerequisites: Education Academy Advanced A, Students must submit a completed Interest Form, available in the Counseling Department.

The Education Academy Advanced course is a continuation of the first-year course.
