We will be doing one more high school yearbook pick-up Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 3 to 4 p.m. in the commons across from the gym. If you are not able to pick up during that time, please contact hsyearbook@hassk12.org with an alternative date for you to pick up your book after school.

Earlier today, Hastings High School was evacuated after smoke was detected in a portion of the building that houses the science classrooms. Out of an abundance of caution, students and staff exited the school while a local fire crew investigated.
Fire crew members and HASS maintenance staff determined that a bird's nest built on a generator briefly caught fire causing smoke to enter the building through vents.
The incident did not result in any injuries and once the building was cleared by fire officials, school operations resumed.
We are grateful to the Hastings Fire Department for their prompt response and assistance and also to school staff for quickly and calmly putting into action the safety procedures we have in place.

Ty Wenger, sales consultant from GreenMark Equipment (John Deere – Hastings), visited Mrs. Mayack’s ag business classes today to share his journey and insights into the world of equipment sales.
He spoke with students about the skills, education, and experiences that led him to a successful career in sales consulting. To top it off, he arrived in a big green tractor, giving students a hands-on look at the equipment he works with every day.
Thank you, Ty, for taking the time to chat with our future ag professionals!

Let's see a sea of white at Bob White Stadium tonight. Good luck, Saxons!

Crews will be on site at Baum Stadium and Johnson Field on Friday, August 29, using cranes to replace lighting poles and other lighting equipment.
Due to the hazard this work presents, the track and field will be closed to athletes, coaches, and members of the community. We appreciate your understanding and are looking forward to this great upgrade!

Congratulations to Caroline, who beat her own school record to set a new benchmark. She finished the Under the Lights Invite at South Christian in 18:25.9. We have a feeling this won’t be the last time we see her do it over the next two seasons!

Saxon family, please welcome Ryan Cousins to our district! Over the next couple of weeks, we will be highlighting some of the new faces that will be instructing our students this year.

Welcome back, teachers and staff! We kicked off the year with a district-wide assembly at the Hastings Performing Arts Center, then headed back to our buildings to prepare for the year ahead. We can’t wait to welcome our students back soon.

Band camp isn’t all work and no play. This morning, they wrapped up the session with a rousing game of tug-of-war. Band is definitely not for the faint of heart!

It's back-to-school for our office personnel. All school offices are now open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and available to assist you.

There’s a lot of activity happening at Hastings High School right now! Construction crews are hard at work on several major projects that will significantly transform parts of the building.
Along the south side, older windows are being replaced with new, energy-efficient ones. Meanwhile, the big news is the full renovation of the athletic lobby and both the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms. These upgrades will enhance the experience for students, staff, and visitors alike.
Progress is moving along quickly, and we can’t wait to show you the finished results. Stay tuned!

Tears, jubilation, hugs…even some silly string and popsicles. Students throughout the district celebrated their last day of school in all kinds of ways.
We want to thank all the students, teachers, parents, and staff who made this school year such a success. Now go enjoy your summer. You’ve earned it!
