On National School Principals' Day, we want to take a second to honor our district's six principals and a bonus rockstar of an assistant principal.

These are leaders who show up every day with patience, encouragement, and dedication for their students and staff. Thank you for all the time, care, and heart you put into making your schools better places to learn and grow.

Our high schoolers are heading into the final month of school with some energy. At Thursday afternoon’s assembly, Saxon spring sports teams were introduced, nominees for the Senior Academy Awards were announced, and students took part in a number of games with a very spirited audience watching on.

This spring marked the end of a months-long project in Advanced Agriculture that is always a student favorite!

Since September, students have managed and overseen every phase of the lambing process, from preparation to post-lambing care. They even had to weather a very frigid winter. Their hard work and dedication paid off as they finished with 14 lambs from 9 ewes! Three lambs will remain in our ag barn, while the others were sold to cover program costs.

The Hastings Ag Program would like to extend a huge thank you to Bill Johnson for his continued support with ewes and rams, Matt Potter for demonstrating proper shearing techniques, and BC Veterinary Service for providing veterinary care throughout the process. We are incredibly grateful for the community support that helps make these hands-on learning experiences possible! 💙🐑

The GFWC Hastings Women’s Club welcomed our senior girls for the annual Senior Tea today, a tradition that generations of Saxon ladies likely remember.

This meaningful event brings together women of all ages to share wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration, reminding our Saxon seniors that they are supported as they step into the next chapter of their lives.

A special congratulations to Charlotte Drake, who was honored with a scholarship from the club.

Thank you to the Hastings Women’s Club for your warm hospitality and for continuing this great tradition!

Junior standout Caroline Randall made history this past Friday at the 85th Annual Hastings Saxons Invitational, one of Michigan’s oldest and most competitive high school meets.

Caroline shattered a school record that had stood since 1993 in the 1600 meters, beating it by 6 seconds.

And she didn’t stop there.

She went on to break her own school record in the 3200 meters, dropping a blazing 10:55 and going sub-11 once again.

Join us this evening in the Hastings Middle School Commons for a community forum focused on our district’s facility and infrastructure needs. The session will be led by consultants from GMB, and we encourage all community members to attend and share their input.

Following the forum, the school board will convene for its regularly scheduled meeting.

Spring Break looked a little different for our tech department. Throughout the week, our tech department didn’t slow down. From closing out tickets and repairing devices to updating computers and refreshing inventory across the district, the team kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

And of course, they found a way to keep it fun. Rocking their shades and sipping on ice-cold Shirley Temples, the team brought a little Spring Break spirit to the workday. 😎
Awesome work, team!

Every four years, the Hastings Marching Band takes their talents on the road, heading to Universal Studios in Orlando for a special performance. This year, the Saxons made the journey and proudly marched on Sunday, representing Hastings hundreds of miles from home. Outstanding job!

Saxons have each other’s backs! 💙
In anticipation of state testing (i.e. M-STEP, PSAT, etc.), students of all ages across our district took time to write letters of encouragement to one another. Every student will receive uplifting words from a fellow Saxon, reminding them they are supported and ready to succeed.
Good luck...you’ve got this!

The Saxons had a great week at the state wrestling championships. Hastings took six qualifiers and finished the weekend with three all-state wrestlers!

In her freshman debut, Riley Furrow finished the weekend in 5th place. She becomes the first lady Saxon to place at state as a freshman. Along the way, she also became the first girl to record 40 wins.

Hunter Sutfin picked up his second all-state honors as a sophomore, earning a 6th place finish. Hunter also passed the season record for takedowns with 185 (previous record 175, Robby Slaughter). He also tied the school record for wins in a season with 54 (tied with Coach Jason Slaughter).

Sara Baker took home 8th place and all-state honors at her first time at Ford Field. She finishes out her senior year with a 30-plus win season.

Jace Acker, Abby Frazer, and Alexia Owen had a good weekend, but came up just short of the medal stand. Abby and Jace took home a win each for the weekend, which put them in the top 12 of their weight classes.
